      What is the BMI formula for adults (metric and imperial)?

      The BMI formula was originally developed in the 1830s by Belgian mathematician Adolphe Quetelet, which is why BMI is sometimes still called the “Quetelet Index.” The modern adult formula comes in two equivalent versions depending on your unit system.
